Focus on the Finance Sector:

The Foundation believes that sustainable development has its greatest leverage in international finance and for this reason it has placed high importance in promoting research and projects linked to Socially Responsible Investments and corporate governance.

In order to promote this thinking in 2003, The Foundation, along with the World Bank and DNV in Oslo hosted the Global Corporate Governance Forum. This meeting brought together global experts with the purpose of outlining sustainable investment guidelines for Asset Managers. Today, these guidelines are implemented by investment institutions such as the French Bank Credit Agricole. Expanding the work on corporate governance to look at the whole picture of socially responsible investments, the Foundations took the initiative to a major project on finance and foundations. The PRIME PROJECT (Primer for Responsible and Management of Endowments) is lead by Dr. Willums as vicechair of the Bellagio Forum, and is an international undertaking in cooperation with Eurosif (European Social Investment Forum) and the European Foundation Centre that aims at helping trustees better understand and integrate Responsible Investment practices into mandates they give to asset managers.
